Meet Your Practitioner
Sarah Cowman - MIRH, Medical Herbalist & TCM Practitioner
Hello, and welcome!
I've been fascinated by plants, nature, and the body's capacity to heal for as long as I can remember - and I've spent years turning that passion into a clinical practice that genuinely gets results for people who've often run out of other options.
I'm a Medical Herbalist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner, based near the Wexford/Waterford border and what makes my approach a little different is the range of tools I work with. I use TCM diagnostics to help to get to the why behind your symptoms, then bring together herbal tinctures, flower essences and teas, homeopathy, kinesiology, and diet and lifestyle guidance into a protocol that's built entirely around you. It's layered, considered care - not a one-size prescription.
Conditions I work with
Herbal medicine can provide meaningful support across a wide range of conditions. If you're dealing with any of the following, we should talk:
Hormonal imbalances · Skin conditions · Autoimmune concerns · Thyroid issues · Digestive problems · Insomnia · Hay fever · Post-viral fatigue · Frequent respiratory infections.
If something isn't on this list but you've been struggling without answers, reach out anyway - I'm used to the complex ones.
How we work together
We start with a full 60-minute initial consultation - online or in person - to properly understand your history, your symptoms, and what's driving them. From there, focused 30-minute follow-ups keep your protocol evolving as you do.
The goal isn't to manage how you feel. It's to change it.

Why Choose Herbal Medicine?
If you find yourself here then maybe you've tried the conventional route and something still feels off. Maybe you're managing a recurring issue and wondering if there's another way. Or perhaps you're simply ready to take a more considered, whole-body approach to your health.
Whatever brought you here - you're asking the right questions.
It starts with you, not just your symptoms
Herbal medicine works differently to a standard GP appointment. Rather than treating a single symptom in isolation, we look at the full picture - your lifestyle, your history, your constitution, and the way your body's systems interact. The result is a plan shaped around your whole picture, not a generic remedy off a shelf.
This is healthcare that listens.
Gentle, effective, and backed by growing science
Plants have been used medicinally for thousands of years across every culture on earth - and modern science is increasingly confirming what traditional healers long understood. Many of the herbs used in clinical herbal medicine have been studied extensively, with research into their active compounds supporting their therapeutic use.
This isn't alternative medicine as a last resort. It's a well-grounded, evidence-informed discipline — one that works with your body rather than overriding it.
What people commonly experience:
-
Feeling genuinely heard in a thorough, unhurried consultation
-
A personalised herbal prescription tailored to their specific needs
-
A clearer understanding of what's driving their symptoms
-
Gradual, sustainable improvement - not quick fixes that fade
Is herbal medicine right for you?
If you're curious, there's no pressure - the first step is simply a conversation. And if you have questions before you're ready to book, I'd love to hear from you.
What Happens in a Herbal Consultation
During a consultation, you can expect a thorough and holistic exploration of your health.

Medical History
We'll delve into your past medical history, including any significant illnesses, treatments, and family health patterns, to build a comprehensive understanding of your health journey. Things that may seem insignificant often may be key to understanding your current health.

Current Health
We'll also explore how your various body systems are functioning – from digestion and sleep to energy levels and hormonal balance – to identify any areas of imbalance. Your blood pressure may be taken, along with assessing other physical indicators. A note of your current medications will be made to ensure herb/drug interactions are avoided. It will also be helpful to get a full picture by reviewing any recent blood tests.

Nutrition & Lifestyle
Furthermore, we'll discuss your current lifestyle, including your diet, exercise routine, stress levels and any supplements you may be taking, as these factors play a crucial role in your overall wellbeing. This in-depth assessment ensures that the personalised herbal protocol and recommendations we develop address the interconnectedness of your health.
